Finding a parking spot in Geiranger is challenging during the busy summer season. To assist visitors, there are 11 designated parking areas within the village for a smoother and more pleasant experience. A parking fee is required during peak times, from April 1st to September 30th. There are no free public parking spots in Geiranger during that period, and payment times vary across different parking areas.

For individuals with reduced mobility or who are handicapped, there are designated parking spaces marked with a wheelchair symbol on the ground. People with reduced mobility do not have to pay the parking fee, but they must display a valid reduced mobility card on the dashboard inside the car.

You can pay either via an app or at the parking machines located in every parking area. For information about the parking spots within Geiranger you can find them here:  Parking in Geiranger

Additionally, our Fjord Rangers are available at the parking spots to assist you. Look for the people with the hats, if you need help parking your vehicle. You will usually find them walking around the village.

Norsk Fjordsenter parking

You will find a parking area at the Norsk Fjordsenter (Norwegian Fjord Centre). There, you will find parking spaces for buses, cars, recreational vehicles, motorbikes, and as well as electric charging stations for electric cars. The payment machine is located next to the outdoor toilets. There is a drop-off zone where you can drop off or pick up passengers for a very limited time. Additionally, there are two parking spots for guests with reduced mobility.

If you want to park and charge your car at the same time, you must pay at the payment machine for both the parking spot and the electricity used. Then, show your receipt at the reception at the Norsk Fjordsenter, and they will activate the charging station for you. There are 5 designated buss parking spots where you can park your buss from 20:00 until 08:00.  For rest of the day, the buss parking spots are used for the busses that are visiting the Norsk Fjordsenter.

The parking spots for cars and recreational vehicles are located on the rigth side upon entering the small road that leads to the Norsk Fjordsenter.
